BLAKES LAKE RESERVE

Public BBQ

Blakes Lake Reserve sits conveniently beside the local shopping complex, offering families a modest lakeside retreat that's both charming and occasionally exasperating. The centrepiece lake, complete with its bubbling fountain, hosts a flotilla of resident ducks who seem blissfully unaware of the water's less-than-pristine green hue. The playground equipment keeps children thoroughly entertained, though one does wish for more substantial shade coverage on scorching Australian afternoons. The barbecue facilities serve their purpose well enough, assuming previous visitors have shown the courtesy to clean up properly - a courtesy that appears intermittent at best. Scattered seating around the lake's perimeter provides pleasant spots for lunch, particularly when the locals have given the area some attention. While it may lack the pristine beauty of grander parks, this little pocket of green delivers exactly what busy families need: accessible recreation with minimal fuss, even if the legendary goldfish have sadly departed.
